Oma and Noma Days Checker Tournament
The Oma and Noma Days Checker Tournament is Saturday, September 29th, 2007 in Lake Ozark, MO. (Checker Tournament open to all, Register at 8:00 AM, play 9:00 at Casino Pier)
The night before (Friday night, September 28th), Kim Willis of Eldon, the American Checker Federation 2005 US National Women's Champion will play 20 people at one time. This exhibition allows her to play 20 board at once, so arranged that she can make her moves from board to board in a continuous slow walk. Oma and Noma Days Celebration & Festival takes place September 28th thru September 30th, 2007 on the historic Bagnell Dam strip in Lake Ozark, Missouri. Stroll back in time to when the dam was new. Celebrate Ozarks heritage from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. The second annual three day Oma & Noma Days festival will include an assortment of local musicians, craft artisans, country dancing, Little Mr. & Miss. Oma & Noma Days contest, historical exhibits, a 5k run, vintage car show and dam crossing, checker tournament, frog jumping contest, food, and more. Thousands turned out for last years event.
